nice artical. I usually sight my rifle in the summer and hunt with it in the winter. No major problems, however there has been a shot or two i have wondered about. n-e-way i now sight and shoot in the same season.
i see where someone wants to know how to make a good shooter. my tip: see your local marine corp recruiter

It was a very good article, from what I've read, you need to have ballistic data for temperature changes, say 50 degrees the one for 70 then one for 90 degrees. if not your going to be off by atleast one whole click and at long range that is a hit or a miss.

Hello Monica my name is Sean I am the Host of LongRangeShooter.com and would like to thank you for your kind words about the article.
I would love to tell you about the Kestrel but unfortunately I do not have one. I plan to get one sometime this year and when I do I would be happy to tell you any thing you would like to know. You see the article was written by a friend of mine Sgt G. Roberts (Western Australia Police TRG Sniper Cell Maylands WA 6051). He sent the article to me to see what I thought and like you said it is a Great article. I asked if he would mine if I post it on my website because I thought that it was worth sharing with other long range shooters. I am very sorry for the misunderstanding but please come back and visit. Thank you once again.

I use a Kestrel (used to use the Brunton ADC pro but the Kestrel's a little nicer). It's an almost required tool for me to make first round hits at long range when conditons are really tough. When used in conjuncton with a ballistic calculator (on a PDA or other portable device) which can correct for atmospheric conditions, shot angle, and wind.... no targets will be safe even as the range streaches to well beyond 1000yds.

Great article! The Kestrel is used to measure weather parameters by long range shooters and military professionals worldwide. We'd love to get quotes on how you use the Kestrel. Feel free to contact me for any reason! Thanks, Monica Devlin
